One Minute Reader® Live is an independent, structured reading activity for developing readers.
"Part Four: One Minute Reader Live" addresses assigning students access to One Minute Reader Live, the structure of each One Minute Reader Live step, and monitoring student performance.
Students must have a Read Live license to work in any Read Live component, including Read Naturally Live or One Minute Reader Live.
To work in One Minute Reader Live, students need to be assigned access to the application. The Read Live Staff Member Module is used to add that access.
In the Staff Member Module, staff members can give One Minute Reader Live access to individual licensed students on the Student Details page. Staff Members can also assign licenses to more than one student at a time on the One Minute Reader Live Student page.

When a student has access to more than one Read Live application, the Landing Page displays as they log in. One icon is shown for each Read Live application available to the student.

One Minute Reader Live allows students to work more independently than our other applications.
Placement in One Minute Reader Live isn’t required. It suggests content to a student, but does not restrict the stories in which a student can work.
When students take the placement test, they choose a level of story to read, complete the reading, and then are recommended a level based on their score.
To access placement in One Minute Reader Live:
If a student has never logged into One Minute Reader Live before, a modal displays and asks them if they would like to take a placement test.
One Minute Reader Live content is organized by level, books, and stories.
Levels range from E to five, with E being the easiest.
Each level contains several books with different themes. Themes range from animals, human achievements, bugs, events, and more.
Each book contains several stories about topics related to the theme of the book.

You can use story options to customize the program for all students, specific groups of students, or individual students.
You can open a student's Story Options from either the student's workstation or the Staff Member Module.
Opening Story Options from a student's workstation enables you to change the options for that student only. Opening them from the Staff Member Module enables you to change the story options for any of your students, including multiple students at one time.

Placement in One Minute Reader is designed to guide a student to the right level without needing teacher intervention.
Students can read a story from a chosen level, and the application will give them a recommendation based on their performance.
The student selects at which level they want to test.
The levels range from E to 5.
The second page displays the placement story for the selected level.
Similar to the Cold Read step, the student starts the timer and reads the story.
The third page of the placement test displays the results of the test.
The student will hear and see a recommendation based on their performance.

The Select a Book screen allows students to select a level, a book of stories, and access the placement test.
Each book displays on the screen as a tile with an image and title.
Clicking on a book displays the Select a Story screen with all the stories in the selected book.
Students can reset stories in a book by clicking the Reset Book icon. It appears as two swirling arrows in a circle.
In progress and completed stories are reset when resetting a book.
If at least one story is complete in a book, the Book Summary icon displays. It appears as a circle icon with small bars within.
Clicking the Book Summary icon displays a report of completed stories within the book.
Information about scores, steps, and points display within the report.
If a story or book is reset, this Book Summary information resets as well.
At the bottom of the screen are levels. Students can click a level to change what books are shown.
For example, selecting Level 3 will display books from level three.
To access the placement test, students can click the Placement button at the top of the screen.

The Cold Read step enables students to see how many words they read correctly in one minute on a new story. This step sets a baseline for the story, so the student can see improvement after practicing.
The student earns a Words Per Minute (WPM) score and points after completing the story.
This score is compared to practices in future steps to track their improvement.
While points have no actual impact on the application, they are tracked as a way to reward students for good performance.

The Read Along step is a modeling step, where students actively read along with a recording of the story.
This step helps students learn unknown words and practice difficult words. It encourages proper pronunciation, expression, and phrasing.
By default, a minimum of one Read Along is required to for a student to continue.

The Read Alone step asks students to read the story until they are happy with their score. In this step, students get the opportunity to master the text. By default, they are required to read at least once. However, they are awarded points for every practice.
When a student is happy with their score, they can click Next to save their latest score as their hot timing and continue.

The Quiz step helps develop comprehension skills and reminds students to read for meaning.
On the Quiz step, the student answers multiple-choice questions.
Answering a question correctly earns the student points and unlocks a letter of the Joke Jumble.
After answering a question, the student clicks Next to continue.

The Short Answer step asks the student to write a text response to a question. Students then assess their own response against a model. If they decide their response needs revision, they can rewrite it.
The Short Answer step helps develop comprehension skills and reminds students to read for meaning. It also provides the student with a change to compose her or his own written response.

When all stories in a book are completed, the crossword puzzle for that book is enabled. The crossword contains words and clues based on stories in the book. Readers can leave or return to the crossword puzzle while it is in progress.
Crossword puzzles can be reset from the Select a Story page. They are also reset whenever an entire book is reset on the elect a Book page.
Points are awarded for correct answers. While attempts are unlimited, points are only awarded for the first or second answer attempts.
Completed crossword puzzles are described on the Book Summary report.
The format of the reported data is: Clues correct on the first attempt / Total Clues.
A crossword puzzle for which the student correctly guessed 3 of the 8 clues on the first try displays as: 3/8.

To monitor performance, you can check students' data for trends. To access the student data, generate One Minute Reader Live reports.
Each report includes important information about a specific student's progress or the progress of a group of students. Use the data from the reports to keep students challenged.
Note
To report on a specific group of students, you can add a personal group. Groups let you quickly access a specific set of students, including when you need reports. Only you will be able to see groups you have created.
Topics
This report includes a student-by-student summary of results for One Minute Reader Live stories passed for a selected set of students. Use this report to quickly identify students who may not be making adequate progress in fluency and comprehension and therefore may require adjustments in their programs or additional instruction.
Staff members in the Teacher role can create a Students At-a-Glance report only for students for whom they are the lead teacher.
Account Administrators and School Coordinators can create a Students At-a-Glance report for any students, regardless of the students' lead teachers.
