Would you shop at a grocery store with a “one size fits all” theme? The store would offer one fruit, one vegetable, one snack. Grocery shopping would be a whole lot simpler! But the concept wouldn’t work. Every shopper has different needs; every recipe calls for different ingredients.
The same is true, of course, for struggling readers. One program can’t possibly meet the needs of each and every student. That’s why it’s important for teachers to understand the differences between various options. We hope our new Read Naturally Strategy Programs table can help.
The Read Naturally Strategy combines the research-proven methods of teacher modeling, repeated reading, and progress monitoring to improve reading proficiency. We offer several programs that employ the Read Naturally Strategy—from GATE (a teacher-led, pen-and-paper program for small groups of young students) to Read Live (a cloud-based, individual program for all ages). We created the Read Naturally Strategy Programs table to highlight the differences between each of our Read Naturally Strategy programs and help teachers select the one(s) that will best meet the needs of their students.
Think of the Read Naturally Strategy as the produce aisle. It’s a section of the store that can help students in need of vegetables reading support, but each offering within the aisle tastes a little different. Most struggling readers can benefit from the Read Naturally Strategy. Not all students need the same recipe.
Take a look at the table to see which program(s) might work for you. If you’d like to "taste test" some options, please consider free trials of the programs that interest you. And, as always, feel free to get in touch for recommendations.
