We wrap up the 2018-19 school year by congratulating Owen L. from Hadley, MA on being named our May Star of the Month. Owen is just finishing the third grade at Hadley Elementary. He has been working with Ms. Emily Corriveau this past year on his reading. Owen was nominated for his consistent hard work and amazing improvement. Here is what Ms. Corriveau had to tell us about Owen.
At the beginning of the school year, Owen had very low reading fluency. He has worked SO incredibly hard this school year, and has gone from reading 47 words per minute to his most recent progress monitoring score, reading 125 words per minute. His attitude towards reading has changed as his fluency has improved. He is now self-monitoring and correcting errors much more than before. He is a hard worker who deserves to be recognized. Way to go, Owen!
The Read Naturally Star Student of the Month program is designed to celebrate students who work hard to improve their reading skills using Read Naturally's intervention programs. Each month, we select one student to feature in our newsletter. The selected student wins a $50 Barnes & Noble gift card, and the school or teacher who nominated the student receives a $200 gift certificate for Read Naturally materials.
Because most students are off for the summer, this is our last Star of the Month until the next school year. We look forward to reading your entries in the fall!
He's been such a hard worker all year long. So happy to see this program working as well as it does. Excellent success!
