One Minute Reader Live accelerates reading achievement by combining the research-proven components of the Read Naturally Strategy: teacher modeling, repeated reading, and progress monitoring. The student works at his or her own pace in an appropriate level of material as the motivating program guides the student through the steps. The student masters a story by reading along with audio and then practicing the story until he or she can read it fluently and with comprehension. The program automatically tracks the student's progress.

pointerResearch basis for the Read Naturally Strategy

One Minute Reader Live stepsOne Minute Reader Live Steps

Before beginning the steps of each story, the student selects the book and story he or she wants to read. Choosing the story deepens the student’s investment in the material.

  1. Cold Read
The student reads the story for one minute and then clicks the last word read when the bell sounds.
  2. Cold Read Graph
A graph displays the student’s cold-timing score, establishing a baseline for progress monitoring, the component of the Read Naturally Strategy that motivates the student to improve.
  3. Read Along
The student reads along quietly with a recording of the story, typically three times. This step is the teacher-modeling component of the Read Naturally Strategy, which helps the student learn new words and master others as well as learn proper pronunciation, expression, and phrasing.
  4. Read Alone
The student practices reading the story independently until able to read it accurately and with expression. This step is the repeated-reading component of the Read Naturally Strategy, which helps the student improve fluency, master difficult words, and understand the story.
  5. Read Alone Graph
A graph displays the student’s current words-per-minute score compared to the Cold Read score, showcasing the student’s improvement.
  6. Quick Quiz
The student answers questions about the story. Responding to the text holds the student accountable for meaning, develops the ability to answer many types of questions, and provides information about how well the student comprehends the story. The correct answers to the questions help to solve the book’s Joke Jumble.
  7. Story Summary
The student reviews the results from completing the story, including a graph that shows how much the student has improved since the cold read.
  8. Book Summary
The student reviews the results from other stories completed in the level. Graphs are included.
  9. Did You Know?
Students are presented with additional facts related to the stories from each book (only shown after the student has completed all the stories in a book).

Read Naturally is a amazing tool. I have used it as a bridge to literacy for both homeless children with limited education and with adult English Language Learners. It meets the students where they are at provided all the tools we needed for success.

My 4th grade daughter was placed in the ReadNaturally program at the top of the school year and I was struggling with accepting the fact that she was having trouble with reading comprehension. My daughter reads fluently but she was having trouble with sequencing, summarizations, and finding the main idea of a story. I was reluctant but I wanted to help her to become more confident in her schoolwork. Thankfully, this program came along to fill in the gaps. I’m amazed at the progress my daughter has achieved. She’s happier and less stressed while doing her homework and she looks forward to completing her ReadLive stories. We still struggle in some areas but I’ve seen a a major difference in her behavior and her test scores. We will continue to implement this program as long as it’s available. Thank You

Love, Love, Love this program to help build our students fluency. All of the stories are engaging for the students. The technology is easy for both students and teachers to use. I have seen great results over the past 8 years with our 2nd grade-5th grade students. I would definitely recommend this program as a fluency intervention.

I'm so excited to watch even more of our RSP kiddos move from spending several years of their school career at Preprimer level on AR to breaking that "glass ceiling" the very year they start READ LIVE! This program is changing the trajectory of our students future! This program is by far the best and quickest way to get a child really reading FAST! Thank you,

Read Live Naturally is the best intervention program I've seen. I've been using it for 3 years. I like watching my students improve in their skills and comprehension. The monitoring system is excellent. It's awesome when I can print out a report to show parents their students improvement. Way to go Read Live Naturally!

This is the first year for Read Naturally Live for 30 students in a Title 1 Reading and LAP Reading program for grades 2-6. We had been using the old Read Naturally on computers .8-5.6 and before that just on paper. You have come a long ways. I attended the session last year in Las Vegas at the National Teacher Conference. This summer I will attend the Colorado Springs session on June 26 to learn more. I work in a small, rural school K-12 with under 500 students. I am the reading specialist for students in K-6 in the Title 1 and LAP program. I surveyed my students who used the program this year. Overall, they liked the new program and I do hope we can continue to fund the program. Thank you, Mary Johnson 6-4-19.

We have used Read Live as a reading intervention for three years. What we love about the program is that it includes so many critical reading components, such as rich vocabulary, predicting, reading along with a fluent reader, rereading the text for building fluency, answering different types of questions for comprehension (always including a question covering the main idea and one on sequencing), and a retell. Also, students are placed at their own reading level. As a bonus, the students love the content of the stories as they are interesting nonfiction topics and are often ones they have not read about before. Excellent program!

We are using the live version as a supplement to the core program. The online format allows me to reach more students at the same time and also automate the record-keeping. The vocabulary feature is beneficial. It provides practice while students wait for the teacher to pass them. I also find the passages interesting and well written.

I can’t recommend this product more highly. I use it with my students who are on red or yellow in DIBELS and the progress they make is incredible. I’m a 2nd grade teacher so the reading levels in my class go from C-R! I love Read Naturally because it can help all the levels without purchasing separate modules. It is so easy to administer that I have a parent volunteer help out. I wish there was a talk to text feature so the students could record their own predictions and retell. I tried that feature in iPads but it was pretty inaccurate in translations of 7 and 8 year old voices.

Get this product! It is so affordable and best of all it works.

My Tier 3 students have huge success with Read Naturally Live. Using this as an intervention with my students, most of them progress out of the Tier 3 program. My students are motivated to read and can't wait to beat their times. I absolutely love how the program is designed to address, phonics, comprehension, vocabulary, and most of all fluency. I will forever support this product as I see excellent results in my classroom!!!!

Read Naturally Live is an excellent tool to help kids work independently on improving their fluency. IT is easy to keep data on all skill areas with the Read Live website. The brief nonfiction articles are interesting and, on occasion, mesh with content being taught in social studies and science. Kids develop even further confidence contributing interesting information they've gleaned with repeated readings of the articles. The vocabulary development sections are well done and fun for the kids to work with! As a teacher who is not particularly "tech savvy", the staff is always at the ready responding promptly via phone or email!

The directions to zoom out worked. The response was quick. I wish the interface(?) was different. When I zoom out, I can see more names, but then it's harder to read the text. Thank you!
