Congrats to our February Star of the Month for the 2023-2024 school year, Brody! Brody is a fourth-grade student at Johnsburg Elementary School in Johnsburg, Illinois who is crushing his goals and finding joy in reading! Here is what Brody's teacher, Ms. Myatt, had to say about him:
I always hear teachers say that they love when the lightbulb goes off in students' heads, but half the time, the students themselves don't realize it. Brody has seen the light and is doing everything he can to keep it lit. I am so proud of this young man. He has become more eager, confident, and self-aware in reading, and he's more independent in applying strategies to fix his mistakes and improve his reading all around.
Brody just completed Sequenced Level 2.5. He has a story goal of 65 wcpm. He completed all of his stories within the section in just one hot timing attempt. He averaged an increase of 28.8 wcpm on the stories, with his highest hot score being 95 wcpm. The student/teacher conversations that take place after each story have helped Brody grow more independent and improve in other curricular areas. He passed his last story with 100% correct on the quiz on the first attempt. Brody is definitely a star and I can't wait to see how far he travels.
Way to go, Brody!
