If you’ve been following along with our recent news announcements, you’ve learned we’re very excited about the release of our new phonics program, Word Warm-ups Live. We’re also committed to helping educators everywhere begin to use this highly effective program with their students. We’ve developed several free resources to answer all of your questions about assessment, placement, implementation, and everything in between. Be sure to check out this recent blog post, Useful Resources for a Successful Word Warm-ups Live Implementation, which links to all of these resources.
In addition, we’ve created two new videos to clarify assessment and placement in Word Warm-ups Live. Assessing students for phonics needs and then placing them in the appropriate intervention are crucial to their success. Please take the time to watch these informative videos before starting Word Warm-ups Live with your students.
The first video, Assessing Phonics Needs, explains how to conduct a Word Warm-ups Live phonics assessment to identify a student's earliest phonics needs. This helps you determine whether Word Warm-ups Live or the Read Naturally Live Phonics series is best suited for a student and where to place a student who is assigned to Word Warm-ups Live. Watch the Assessing Phonics Needs video below.
The second video, Determining a Phonics Intervention, explains how to interpret the results of the Word Warm-ups Live phonics assessment and the Read Naturally Live placement test to determine which Read Live intervention(s) are appropriate for a student—Read Naturally Live, Word Warm-ups Live, or both. Watch the Determining a Phonics Intervention video below.
We have also included both videos in our knowledgebase. Here are the links:
