Read Live: Setting up your account

When a Read Live account is first set up for you, Read Naturally sends an activation e-mail to the person designated as the Main Account Contact. This e-mail contains important information about setting up your Read Live account.

To set up your Read Live account:
  1. Log into Read Live:
    1. In a browser, go to the Read Live Home page (https://readlive.readnaturally.com).
    2. On the Home page, click Check System Requirements on the upper-right to verify that your computer meets the requirements for running Read Live.
    3. Click Staff Members.
    4. On the staff member login page, enter the account ID, user ID and password specified in your activation e-mail, and click Log In.
  2. The first time you log in, you are required to change your password:
    1. In the New Password and Verify New Password fields, enter your new password, and click Save. Staff member passwords are case sensitive.
    2. From the Security Question menu, select a question. If you forget your password, you will be prompted to answer this question to access the software.
    3. In the Answer box, enter an answer that you will easily remember. Answers are not case sensitive.
    4. Click Save.
  3. Add schools, then staff members, then students:
    1. From the navigation menu, select Account & School Administration. 
    2. Your account starts with one school. If necessary, click the Add School button to add more.
    3. Click a school's name to review the school's information. Change its name if necessary. 
    4. If you need to reserve a specific number of licenses for each school in the account, select Reserve exactly this many licenses for each school and enter a number. Students at the school can use this many licenses, and students at other schools will not be able to use them.
    5. Add staff members besides yourself who will be working with Read Live (if any): from the navigation menu select Staff Member Administration, and then click the Add Staff Member button.
    6. To add students, do one of the following:
      • To import data for multiple students, click the Import link and follow the instructions.
      • To add students individually, from the navigation menu select Student Administration, and then click the Add Student button.
  4. Assign licenses to students:
    1. From the navigation menu, select Student Administration.
    2. To assign licenses to one student at a time, click Student Setup. Click the name of each student. On the Student Details page, select Yes from the License this student? menu. Choose a lead teacher for the student. 
    3. To assign licenses to several students at once, click Student Licensing. If necessary, choose a school from the License students at... menu. Select a group of students who will have the same lead teacher, and click Assign Licenses to Selected. From the Select a Lead teacher menu, choose the name of the lead teacher. Click OK.
  5. Place students individually in Read Naturally Live using the built-in placement test. The Read Live User Guide includes complete instructions for placing students. To get started:
    1. From the navigation menu, select Read Naturally Live.
    2. Locate the name of a student you would like to place, and in the Placement Test column, click Place.
