Take Aim Small-Group Format: Communicating with students and parents

2126 Views

Communicating with students and parents/guardians helps you ensure that students have a positive experience with Take Aim at Vocabulary and that they continue to deepen their vocabularies, both in school and at home.

A parent letter explains the Take Aim at Vocabulary program and keeps parents and guardians involved in the learning process. You may print this letter to send home when students begin working in Take Aim.

Each unit has a Laudable Lexicologist Award. This award has a list of the words the students learned in the unit and a space to record a student’s End-of-Unit Test score. After students complete the four lessons in a unit, you can send the Laudable Lexicologist Awards home. Each student can discuss the target words with his or her parents and then bring the signed portion of the award back to you. These awards help keep parents involved in the learning process.

Each unit has a sheet of Laudable Lexicologist Bookmarks. You may print or photocopy the bookmark sheet back-to-back with the level word list sheet to create bookmark awards for students. When students complete a unit, you may reward each student with a bookmark that lists all the words learned in the unit. You may also send students’ completed mini-packets home with bookmarks attached.

The parent letter, Laudable Lexicologist Award, and Laudable Lexicologist Bookmarks for each level are on the teacher’s resource CD.
