How does Encore II work?
A placement process helps teachers identify each student’s fluency needs to find an appropriate series, level, and goal. Students work mostly independently with reproducible masters and support audio, and teachers check in and engage with students for key steps. Teachers also review data and make decisions to adjust students’ story requirements, levels, and goals when appropriate.
Stories for every student
There are four different series of Encore II that all follow the same basic format but have strategic differences. Teachers assign a series, level, and goal based on the student's needs, and the student chooses stories to work through based on their interests.
Sequenced series:
the standard series with 13 levels (1.0 - 8.0), 24 stories per level
Phonics series:
adds phonics lessons and activities and has 6 levels (0.8 - 2.7), 24 stories per level
Idioms series:
teaches common American idioms and has 4 levels (3.0 - 4.5), 12 stories per level
Español (Spanish) Sequenced series:
the Spanish-language series with 8 levels (1.0 - 4.5), 24 stories per level

- 24 high-interest, nonfiction stories with key words, line-by-line words counts, and comprehension activities
