Changing a Student's Read Naturally Live Lead Teacher

Students must have licenses to work in Read Live. A Lead Teacher can also be assigned to each student who has a license. Lead Teachers are responsible for the educational choices made in Read Naturally Live for each student. 

If a student has a lead teacher, staff members who are the student's lead teacher (or staff members on that teacher's Team) can:

  • Place the student in Read Naturally Live;
  • Change the student's level, goal, or story options; or
  • Access the student's reports

If a student does not have a lead teacher, any Account Administrator, School Coordinator, or Teacher who can see the student can make those changes for the student.

Account Administrators and School Coordinators can make any of those changes for any student, even if the student has a different lead teacher.

To assign a new lead teacher to individual students:

  1. Log in to the Staff Member Module.
  2. If you are a Teacher, select Student Setup from the navigation menu.
    If you are an Account Administrator or School Coordinator, select Student Administration from the navigation menu and then click Student Setup.
  3. Sort and filter the list of students to find the one to whom you want to assign a new lead teacher.
  4. Click the student's last name in the list.
  5. On the Student Details page, in the Lead Teacher menu:
    1. Select the Lead Teacher checkbox.
    2. From the Lead Teacher dropdown, choose a new lead teacher for the student.
  6. Click Save & Close.

To assign a new lead teacher to a group of students:

  1. Log in to the Staff Member Module.
  2. If you are an Account Administrator or School Coordinator: From the navigation menu, select Student Administration, and then click Application Access.
    If you are a Teacher: select Student Setup, and then choose the Application Access button.
  3. If necessary, select a school from the View students at... menu.
    The summary area at the top of the page displays information about how many licenses are in use at the selected school, and how many more licenses are available there.
  4. Sort and filter the list of students to find those whose lead teacher assignment you want to change.
  5. Check the box next to the name of each student whose assignment you need to change.
  6. Click the Manage Access to Read Live button at the top of the page. 
  7. In the Actions menu on the side of the page, under Licenses & Lead Teachers, click the Change Lead Teacher for selected button.
    The Select a Lead Teacher dialog opens.
  8. If you want to assign a lead teacher to all of the selected students, select the Lead Teacher checkbox and choose the teacher from the Select a Lead Teacher dropdown.
    If you want the students not to have a lead teacher, deselect the Lead Teacher checkbox.
  9. Click OK
